Employee Welfarism And Stress Management On Workforce performance In Ekiti State Public Sector

Abstract
The study explored employee welfare and stress management with references to Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. The specific objectives are to: determine the effect of employee welfare on performance; examine the relationship between stress management and performance, and assess the mediating effect of stress management on employee welfare and performance. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Both academic and non-academic Staff of Ekiti State University form the study population, which are 2,586 staff. The sample size was 346, which was selected through Yamane sampling model. Primary data used for the study were gathered through a structured questionnaire. Data gathered were analysed using regression analysis, Product Moment Correlation and Hayes Process. The result showed that employee welfare positively affects performance; it further showed that there is a significant relationship between stress management and performance. Furthermore, it showed that stress management significantly and positively affects employee welfare and performance. It was recommended that university management should not underestimate the role stress plays on employee welfare and prioritise employee wellness for improved performance and commitment.
